Time to Change – Open up to Mental Health

Spirit of Shankly are proud to have joined the Time to Change campaign. A growing movement that aims to shift how we all think and act about mental health. Run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, thousands of organisations are linking up to make change happen.

One in four of us is affected by some sort of mental health problems in any given year, yet so many are still left feeling isolated, ashamed and worthless. Look around you on the terraces. One in four means it could be anyone – a fellow fan, your mate, your workmate, someone in your family.

We know people are struggling, but men in particular are reluctant to talk. Football can be their escape. Then one matchday they’re not there.

Join us to make change happen

Time to Change launched in 2008. Since then more than 3.4 million individuals have different, improved attitudes to mental health, and those experiencing mental health problems face less discrimination. But men in particular still aren’t hearing the message, and many young people still don’t understand what mental health is.

Without support from those around them, people with mental health problems can lose what they care about most: their job, their families and friends, their home.

Having a mate like you in their corner can make all the difference. So, if your mate’s acting differently, step in.

Please share this one-minute film and campaign with your mates as many times as you can. You will be playing a big part in a movement that’s changing how we all think and act about mental health. Thank you.
