Happy Christmas for North Liverpool

Thanks to supporters from Liverpool and Everton and visiting fans, this week 300 pensioners enjoyed a Christmas dinner and party, plus 200 food hampers were given to those in dire need.

This comes on top of the foodbank campaign, which has been going well since it began in October with more than a ton of food collected. Also a whip-round for the pensioners’ Christmas dinner and party raised a few hundred pounds. Inspired by the generosity of regular supporters, Spirit of Shankly, Everton Supporters Trust and those in charge of organising the foodbanks met with Liverpool and Everton to seek their input. Both clubs agreed to get involved and supplied a chef, waiting staff, tableware and cash for the party. During the meetings, the clubs were keen to acknowledge the work of SOS and EST in such a unique fan-led initiative.

This recent success is apt reward for all those at North Liverpool Foodbank and ABCC who work tirelessly to help those in need. After the party, ABCC presented SOS and EST with a thank-you certificate. Such recognition shows the importance of supporters being involved in community projects, and we’d like to thank Sheila Coleman, from Unite in the Community, for her help and advice in setting up the project.

None of it could have been achieved without your generosity, and we ask that you continue supporting the foodbanks into the new year. Please keep giving what you can, and supporting SOS. Please do donate at our next home game on Boxing Day. Donation points are at:  Christ Church, opposite the ground, Twelfth Man Pub, HJC Shop, LFC Supporters Club, Our Lady Immaculate Club and the Oakfield Pub.

Merry Christmas
